Dear Gent,

9 Your letter (53909/38) of the 14th June

to Henderson about the Motor Torpedo Boats which

Thornycroft's have sent out to Hong Kong for delivery

to the Chinese Government.

Adamalty

There is no objection to your proposal to

that

tell the Governor/we have no objection to the project

of the Chinese Government Agents to send the boats

on by rail. We feel, however, that at the same time

it should be made clear to the Governor that, if for

any reason he should suspect that the Agents of the

Chinese Government are contemplating any change of

plan which would involve onward despatch of the boats

either in a British ship or under their own power,

he should send in an immediate report so that the

possibility of taking steps to prevent the departure

of the boats by either of these methods may be con-

sidered.

Henderson.

I am sending a copy of this letter to

G.E.J. Gent, Esq., D.S.O.,

O.B.E., M.C.

Yours sincerely,
